Walgreens and Express Scripts

This post brought to you by Walgreens. All opinions are 100% mine.

Are you on the Express Scripts program, and have been getting your prescriptions filled at Walgreens?  As of January 1, 2012, you will no longer be able to get your prescriptions filled at Walgreens through the Express Scripts program.  It is sad to see companies have a fall out over contractual issues, but although Walgreens has offered fair solutions, Express Scripts has rejected them all because they want more control over your prescription needs.  I know I would be sad to have to say goodbye to Walgreens, because Walgreens is my favorite place to have my prescriptions filled.  To familiarize yourself more with the situation, here is the Walgreens and Express Script press release on the matter.

Walgreens is offering people solutions to help ease the burden: The Walgreens Prescription Savings Club.  Right now Walgreens is offering a special discount to join their Prescription Savings Club.  For $10 a year, a family membership covers everyone in your immediate family, including a spouse, dependents 22 and younger, and pets.  An individual membership is only $5.  With the Walgreens Prescription Saving Club you will receive discount prices on your prescriptions which includes discounts on 8,000 brand-name and all generic medications, flu shots, pet prescriptions, nebulizer and diabetic supplies.  As a bonus with the Walgreens Prescription Savings Club, you also receive bonuses when you purchase Walgreens brand products and photo finishing services.

Show your support for Walgreens by liking them on Facebook (Walgreens on Facebook) and following them on Twitter (Walgreens on Twitter).

Walgreens is a great company.  I love how they have so many locations that employ so many people from my neighborhood and yours.
