2012 Holiday Gift Guide Giveaway

Would you like to help someone rise out of poverty?  Do it in a way where it is not handed to them on a platter, but where you enrich their lives, increase their financial stability,  to help them help their families.  Realize this--that when we help people overcome poverty it secures our common future.

Issaraporn Saeyang is a company that works with independent artists and craftsmen from Thailand.  They are not a large company employing people to manufacture goods by the dozens to be sold in chain stores throughout the world.  They employ people who handcraft beautiful items while still preserving their local traditions and cultures. is committed to fair trade practices as outlined by the United Nations Global Compact.  Women, disabled, and the disadvantaged artisans are given a priority.  Some of these very disadvantaged artisans will make 100 percent of all the sales proceeds, while we, the consumer, will be able to enjoy the beauty of a one-of-a-kind handmade article.  When we make a purchase from, we are helping people gain a sustainable income to help them support their families.
Crimson Elegance

The products from are truly one-of-a-kind.  I was fortunate the other month to win a gift certificate from Ezistock, and I used it to purchase some unique and beautiful marcasite jewelry.  I got a matching set for myself, and let my eldest daughter pick out a pair of earrings.

Shiny Leaves

The marcasite earrings that my daughter chose are called, 'Shiny Leaves,' and do they ever shine.  They are made of polished sterling silver that sparkle so prettily when they catch the light.  The leaves are bordered with marcasite.  Above the leaves are a beautiful white freshwater pearl.  They measure about 1 3/4" long.  They are just lovely dangling from her ears.

The matched set (sold separately) that I got for myself is called "Thai Orchids."  The pendant is made of two circlets of silver studded with marcasite, while the earrings consist of just one circle with the marcasite.  Both the earrings and the pendant have beautiful gems of blue topaz, amethyst, garnet, citrine, and peridot.  These are not just little pinpoint stones, but clear bright gems measuring 3-4mm on the pendant, and 2.5-4mm on the earrings.   The chain that came with the pendant is an 18" long sterling silver box chain.  I feel so elegant wearing my new matched set.  I have had so many complements when wearing these, and women wonder what store I got them from.  My husband tells me that I really make the jewelry look good.
