Chad Lawson - Solo Piano Christmas CD - #HGG Review & Giveaway - Ends 12/18 US

Last week, I got an email asking me to review some Christmas music.  The music is totally piano, which is really so dear to my heart since I "play" the piano as well as I can.  The album is called A Solo Piano Christmas with all of the music arranged and performed by Chad Lawson.

Chad Lawson was five years old when he realized his dream for life was music.  After music school, he formed the Chad Lawson Trio, releasing highly acclaimed jazz albums.  Their music was featured on Starbucks retail radio and the television series Dawson's Creek.  For seven weeks, their album, Unforeseen, was on the top of ten jazz charts.  In 2007, Chad toured with Julio Iglesius, but realized that his dream was not playing with someone else, but to return to his own calling--the piano.  In 2009, Chad recorded his first solo album, Set on a Hill.  He has since recorded two more solo piano albums, The Piano and A Solo Piano Christmas.

When I fell in love with the piano at the age of ten, my piano teacher inspired in me a love of the sweetness that resonates from the piano.  I have found  A Solo Piano Christmas to be a stunning work of art.  When I first listened to the Christmas music on this album, I was in seventh heaven.   You can just feel the love of the piano behind the music being played.  There is a tangible feeling of warmth associated with each measure.  As Chad put it so eloquently in his email,

The CD is the "end of the night, kids in bed, glass of wine by the fire and breathe" solo piano Christmas CD. Exactly what I have found necessary during the stressful season.

I find that the music from A Solo Piano Christmas just resonates in my soul and creates a sense of surrounding peace.  Not only are these Christmas songs perfect for the end of a long day, but also for a tranquil but sanguine Christmas dinner.

My husband took Chad's Christmas music with him the other day while he went out shopping.  It was the only music that he listened to.  He told me that it made the driving more pleasant.  It was just so soothing listening to it.

There are twelve songs on A Solo Piano Christmas:
  1. What Child is This?
  2. The First Noel
  3. It Came Upon a Midnight Clear
  4. The Holly and the Ivy
  5. I'll Be Home for Christmas
  6. Sing We Now of Christmas
  7. While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks
  8. Joy to the World
  9. O Come, O Come Emmanuel
  10. God Rest You merry Gentlemen
  11. Jesu, Joy of Man's Desire
  12. It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year
You can preview Chad Lawson's A Solo Piano Christmas at iTunes and Amazon.  It is available to download from each of these sites.  You can see and read all of Chad Lawson and his music at his website.  Stay connected with Chad Lawson through Facebook, Twitter, and listen to more of his music on YouTube

A part of the dedication from the inside of the CD:

As with every note I am given, all glory, honor and praise is returned to the giver of life, creativity and grace; Jesus Christ.  Each note and space between is for His glory and nothing more.
Chad not only plays the piano, but composes beautiful melodies.  I featured a composition of Chad's, "Reflections", on my Serene Sunday post. It is lovely music highlighted with the ocean in the background, and is from his first solo album, Set on a Hill.

With many thanks to Chad Lawson, I have two autographed copies of A Solo Piano Christmas CDs to giveaway to two lucky people! This giveaway will end on December 18, 2012, and is open to US residents only.   Thank you once again, Chad!
