Wordless Wednesday with Linky - The Owl's Christmas Eve Feast - December 26, 2012

On Monday morning we found this almost at the top of one of our pines.  It is the remains of an owl's nightly feast on a jack rabbit.

We had a heck of a time getting the remains out of the tree being that it was well over 30 ft up.  All that was left was the head, a front leg, a hind leg, the hide, and the tail.  It was amazingly gutted.

  2. Wow, glad I can't see that right up close! My son loves owls. I think the pellets they throw up are pretty interesting. We dissected one when I was in elementary school and there were lots of rat bones. Hope you had a great Christmas!

  6. Happy holiday... The owl apparently likes a traditional old fashioned pagan tree decorated druid style with ornamental remains of his feast.
