Did You Know Your TV Can Kill! SANUS Offers a Safe Solution - Giveaway - ends 7/3 US

I received information from SANUS for this post.

Watching movies on our TV is a nightly event for us in our home.  We don't have cable or satellite, so we rely on our entertainment library of DVDs that we have gotten over the last 15 or so years.  Watching a nightly old TV show or movie together as a family is the highlight of our day.

Just the beginning of this month, we felt it was time to retire our old tube television.  We have had it for about 13 or 14 years now, and it has really worked well for us.  We went shopping for a flat panel TV.  One almost tipped over on us when we tried to look at the back of the television.  That gave us a bit of a fright, for we didn't want to break one at the store.  After that, we checked the sturdiness of the stands.  There were many that could fall over with just a small amount of pressure.  We did end up getting one that was a bit sturdier than the rest.

Flat Panel TVs are a Household Hazard Due to Tip-Overs

Do you know the how many children are killed or hurt by flat planel televisions?  Most parents are unaware of the risk of flat panel TVs falling over onto their children.  These statistics are startling!

  • A child is killed every three weeks from an unsecured TV
  • Every 45 minutes a child visits an emergency room due to a TV tip-over related injury
  • Between 2000 and 2011, 215 fatalities have resulted from TV tip-over
  • An estimated 17,000 people each year, the majority of which are children, are treated for injuries from TV tip-overs
  • Reported cases have increased almost 25% from 2006  to 2010, and over the last 10 years, injuries have increased by 31%

TVs are safer for children if mounted securely on the wall.
These flat panel TVs are heavy - top heavy!  The stands that come with these TVs are inadequate especially if a child (and they are prone to do so) comes up and grabs the TV.  That's the reason why SANUS, the leading designer and manufacturuer of flat panel TV wall mounts, has partnered with safe Kids Worldwide.  Together, they want to educate consumers on the risk of unsecured flat panel TVs, and offer safe solutions for families across the nation by reducing TV tip-over related injuries and deaths.

Because SANUS is concerned about your child's safety, they are offering one of my readers a chance to win a flat panel SANUS TV Vuepoint Mount F180!  The winner will be able to choose a mount that fits their respective TV.  Please note: this wall mount will not include the actual installation of the equipement (SANUS gives you all you need to mount your flat panel TV yourself).  This giveaway will end on July 3, 2013, and is open to US residents only.

Ends now on July 3rd.
