Wordless Wednesday with Linky - Meet Dallas - June 5, 2013

Well, mostly wordful, today.

Meet Dallas, the newest addition to our family.

Dallas is a cast off.  Last week, my husband went to get the mail at the post office.  When he was coming back, within a 20 minute time frame, someone had dumped this red doberman.

As many of you know, we live out in the desert north of the Joshua Tree Nat'l Park.  We live five miles from a paved road, and no one thinks that anyone lives out our way.  We do get dogs dumped out here occasionally.  Most of the dogs are old dogs, and we take them down to the shelter to have them humanely put down.

This red doberman is only around two years old.  She has been trained, and takes commands well.  She is sweet and gentle.  We have no problem with her taking off and wandering.  She is quite content to stay near the house.  We fell in love with her, and decided to keep her.

We have no idea why someone would take her out into the desert and let her die from the heat.

  1. It never ceases to amaze me how people can just dump a dog, cat or any type of pet to just fend for its self so cruel.

    Have a fantabulosa week ;-)

  17. That breaks my heart that people abandon dogs there! And the fact that you find them is terrible. I'm glad you choose to keep this sweet one :)

  18. Awwww! Dallas is beautiful! We had a doberman growing up - they are such smart (and awesome) dogs! So glad you decided to keep her - so cruel how anyone could just abandon a dog like that. She's very lucky you found her - I bet you spoil her rotten! :)

  19. Love her!! I know a few years ago when I had to drop off my friends cat, they charge me. I bet people don't want to pay it so they just dump them wherever they can.
She's lucky. She obviously ended up with the better people!

  27. Thanks so much for being such a wonderful and tender hearted couple! I too have taken in more strays and injured cats and dogs than I can count. I am amazed that someone left this dog. She is beautiful and they make great pets. We had a Dobie when I was younger. Enjoy!
