Theatrical Thursday - Red Skelton and Harpo Marx - January 30, 2014

No compensation was received for this post.

My family and l just love the classics.  Recently we discovered this great comedy classic on YouTube.  It is a clip from The Red Skelton Hour.  There are two sketches included in this clip.

The first is when Harpo Marx plays a bumbling guardian angel who is sent down from "Up There" to help henpecked husband George Appleby (Skelton) escape the wrath of his nagging wife Clara (Virginia Grey).

The second is when Harpo also appears with Red in a new weekly segment, "The Silent Spot", wherein the two master clowns enact a pantomime sketch about a German and American soldier forming a fast friendship on the battlefields of WWI.

Both skits are hilarious!

Have a wonderful day!

Serene Sunday - Voi, Che Sapete - January 26, 2014

Being a piano player, albeit not very good, it inspired in me the love for the classics.  There are only so many operatic songs that I like, and this is one of them.

From Mozart's Marriage of Figaro
Voi, Che Sapete
It's about a woman singing about love and how it makes her feel.

May you have a most enchanting Sunday!

Wilton Armetale Grillware Griddle - Peach Tart Recipe - Review and Giveaway - ends 2/10 US

The Wilton Armetale Grillware Griddle was provided to me for free in order for me to facilitate an honest review. No other form of compensation was exchanged. Regardless, all thoughts are my own honest opinions!

Isn't it a bother that you have what you thought was a great griddle for your stove only to find that it is just cheap and warps right away.  We have had that problem too many times.  So we started searching high and low for an excellent griddle that can take the stove top and not warp at stores.  Nothing we found on the store shelves would do.  All the griddles we looked at would end up with the same problem of warping again.

Let me tell you something.  We have finally found the perfect griddle!  It is from Wilton Armetale, and this griddle hales from their Gourmet Grillware Collection.  Not only is this griddle great for the stove top, but it is great for the oven, and for the BBQ as well!

All of Wilton Armetales Grillware Collection is made from durable metal that won't rust or break (there's a lifetime warranty against breakage).  They are made from ten different non-toxic metals with aluminum being the primary one.  With aluminum being the main metal, it makes the griddle much more lighter than you would expect. There is no need for separate serveware, just take this to the table.  it will keep your hot foods hotter for a longer period.

Another hot feature about this griddle is that is it BBQ safe!  With being able to take temperatures up to 1000 degrees Fahrenheit, it can take your BBQ's temps, and serve up some great food for you.  It is perfect for those little items you have always wanted to BBQ: grilling onions, peppers, mushrooms, etc.

How about a serving piece for cold foods?  Chill the Gourmet Grillware in the freezer or the refrigerator.  This griddle can take it!  It will keep those cold foods colder longer.  Perfect for parties to serve cold appetizers on.

We experimented with our Gourmet Grillware Griddle quite a bit during the last two weeks that we have had it.  On the stove top, we cooked pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, and some bacon on it.  Because I have a glass top stove, I didn't move it around too much, and everything came out great.

My daughter baked peanut butter cookies on it.  They came out of the oven fantastic.
My son baked some quick pizzas on the griddle in the oven.  He was very happy with the results for his lunch.  He also used parchment paper so it was easy clean up for himself.  Wasn't he smart!

My husband made a peach tart, and it's so easy to prepare.  It was so good!  I've added the recipe for you.

Peach Tart

Pie dough for a two crust pie.

2 1/2 to 3 cans of Sliced Peaches in Lite Syrup
1 cup sugar
2 Tbsp cornstarch
1/2 tsp cinnamon
2 Tbsp butter

1. Drain the peaches and put the juice in a saucepan.

2. Mix the sugar, cornstarch, and cinnamon together, and add this mixture to the juice in the saucepan.  Add the butter and cook over medium low heat until the mixture bubbles and starts to thicken.

3.  Line the Gourmet Grillware Griddle or a similar pan with the pie dough.  Arrange the peach slices into a pattern that you like, but make sure that the slices are bunched in tightly.

4. Pour the warm thickened sauce over the peaches making sure that you do not overflow the pan.  You might have extra sauce.  (You can reheat this as a topping for the tart or for ice cream.)

5. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 45 minutes until the crust is a light golden brown.  Serve it warm or cold.

My daughter carved the pastry for the corners from the extra pie dough.  If you wish to do a decoration like this.  It must be baked separately, then added when the tart is done.

We are so happy with our new griddle.  It is very versatile!  The Wilton Armetale Gourmet Grillware Griddle, as with all of the Gourmet Grillware, can go from the grill, stove top or in the oven.  With hot foods, we can take griddle directly to the table and serve right there from it.  We do need to use potholders, for the handles do get hot and we want to protect the surface of our table.  From the refrigerator, it will keep cold foods colder for a longer time (thus it will keep bacteria from growing while serving items for a party).   The metal won't tarnish, chip, dent or crack, but you might get some surface scratches.  It's so easy to care for, just hand wash it.  Use a little non-stick spray or oil and you won't have any trouble with food sticking.

Searching for great grillware for Super Bowl Sunday?  Head on over to Wilton Armetale's Gourmet Grillware, and find something that would be perfect to cook with on the BBQ!

Buy the Wilton Armetale Gourmet Grillware Griddle.  The Grillware Griddle is in stock and available for purchase for only $49.99 plus shipping.

Connect and Converse with Wilton Armetale: Webstie, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube.

With so many thanks to Wilton Armetale, one person is going to win this same Gourmet Grillware Griddle that I reviewed!  This giveaway will end on February 10, 2014, and is open to US residents only.
