A Hero's Journey Begins with a Single Hop!

AXEL's always been a hero in his own mind.  Unfortunately, in real life he's just another mischievous little boy who pulls pranks while his village runs out of food.  one day, he has a vision of a mystical grove of cactuses that could feed his people for years.  Determined to save the day, AXEL and his best friend JONO embark on the journey of a lifetime where they must fly through magnetic valleys, escape an evil robotic lizard king, and put u with a brave but headstrong young Princess.  Will AXEL find the magical plant and save his village?  Can he become the real life hero he always wanted to be?

Starring the voice talents of Ed Asner, George Takei, Matthew Lillard, and Tim Curry, AXEL: The Biggest Little Hero is a cartoon that is sure to please the little ones.

My review of AXEL: Axel is a self-proclaimed little jerk.  He has always wanted to be a hero and when he hears that he is to be the next hero, he jumps at it.  Followed bravely by his little "sidekick" and friend, Jono, they set off to find the fabled Bonta forest.  In their travels, they meet a metal ostrich who helps them, and a Princess.  They do get sidetracked on the way to the Bonta forest as they end up having to 'rescue' her from a terrible enemy.

I really liked Axel, even though at first he is a little 'jerk' but later he sheds that persona a bit.  He learns what it truly means to be a real hero.  His little sidekick, Jono, is a fun little guy who just wants to help and is a devoted follower of Axel.  The Princess is a little jerk, too.  I don't really care for her character, but it is that "girl power" character that Hollywood and like prefers to portray and wants to mold our little girls into.  She's the kind of girl who is better than a boy, proves that she is better, and boasts about it as she makes her father's male guards look like bumbling idiots.

My overall opinion: It's worth buying.  It's a fun adventure that the whole family can watch.  This is set for a sequel and I hope they make it.

AXEL: The Biggest Little Hero is rated PG for some scary images, perilous action sequences, and mild rude humor (giving the ostrich the name Pootron).  It will become available to own on DVD on June 3, 2014, and on VOD on June 17, 2014.  Preorder AXEL: The Biggest Little Hero at Walmart.

With many thanks to Arc Entertainment, I have two copies of AXEL: The Biggest Little Hero to giveaway on DVD with an added VUDU copy.  This giveaway is for US residents only, and will end on June 10, 2014.
