The other week, while driving through an area in the desert where there are no houses, a cat ran across the road and hid in a bush. A cat? Out in this desolate area? We stopped and called to her, and she immediately darted to the van. We opened a door, and she hopped right in.
In my arms was a dirty grimy cat that was almost skin and bones. We turned around and took her home. We actually didn't know what to do with her, but once she got over being scared and staying in a tree, we found her to be a very loving people oriented cat. We couldn't resist, and we kept her.
The kids named her Miko. She is basically an outside cat as she and the dogs are not quite used to each other yet. She always wants to be near someone, and will follow us as we take our walks.
We know she was dumped out in the desert. Why? We can't fathom why. She is litter box trained, housebroken, very loving. Plus, each of our two shelters in our area are no kill. Since she is still quite young, not a year old yet, she would have found a home with someone. Well, I guess it is us. We just have to keep her safe from the coyotes.
