#Review - Moscow Mule Hammered Copper Mug from My Kitchen Concepts

Have you ever had a Moscow Mule?  Perhaps you have, but I never had.  It is a vodka, ginger beer, and lime cocktail invented in a Chatham bar in 1941.  To make it more special and unique, the inventors of this cocktail decided to serve it in a copper mug.  The copper mugs would later become the official Moscow Mule mugs to always serve the cocktail to people.

Even though I am not a drinker of hard liquor, I can still appreciate the beauty of a copper mug.  One very beautiful one comes from My Kitchen Concepts.  This Moscow Mule mug is made of 100% copper.  Each and every one of these mugs is a handcrafted masterpiece.

Each mug is molded and hammered by experienced artisans from solid copper, then polished to perfection for your enjoyment.   It has a solid double wall construction that will keep your drinks cold.  The upper lip on the mug has been rounded and smoothed out to make it spill proof while you drink from it.

This mug is intended for a Moscow Mule cocktail.  Here's how to make it:

Simple Moscow Mule Recipe
Squeeze lime juice into Moscow Mule Copper mug
Add 2 or 3 ice cubes
Pour in 2 oz of vodka
Fill with 4 to 6 oz of cold ginger beer
Garnish with a wedge of lime and serve with a stirring rod

I thought of another way of using this mug - I had a root beer float!

Since the mug is a generous 16 ounces, it's great for a root beer float.  I was able to get a whole 12 oz can of root beer, and several small scoops of vanilla ice cream for a delicious treat.

To get the longest use out of this 100% Copper Mug from My Kitchen Concepts, always hand wash after you use it - it cannot be washed in a dishwasher.  Leaving a drink to sit overnight it in will probably stain the copper.  After washing, dry it with a soft cloth.  Since the cup is 100% copper, it will oxidize in time and create a patina.  To keep the exterior looking new, use a copper polish or a combination of lemon and salt.  Never use any harsh detergents or stainless steel as they may ruin the finish of this beautiful mug.  Because they are metal, these mugs cannot go in the microwave.  Also, they are only meant for cold beverages.

This hammered pure copper mug is so shiny and beautiful to behold.  What a great addition it would make to your bar, or just as something to drink milk or any other non-alcoholic beverage as well.  BUY IT AT AMAZON for the incredibly low price of only $19.97 a mug.  You will need a few of these for serving your guest.

  1. I made this drink for the third time now, and it is so good and so refreshing. Now, I want to get the copper mugs, too, which I am finding to be available at a number of online shops. Question for you: Most of the mugs are 16 oz. or more, the recipe comes out to about 8 oz. with ice. Did you double the drink in the mugs in the photos or are they smaller mugs? Thanks for sharing the recipe!
