Eco-Chic Colombian Girl Jewelry - Handmade From Organic Sources in Colombia - Review & Giveaway - ends 5/15 US

There are women all over the world who are struggling to survive day after day.  Many of these women do not want to turn to illegal activities to feed themselves and their children.  Some are lucky and find a way of life that will help them to survive and make a fair wage like a group of women who live outside Bogota, Columbia.

On the outskirts of Bogota, Colombia, an ordinary group of women living on the same block experimented with incorporating natural fruit and seeds in jewelry, using simple hand-sewn crochet techniques.  The women were essentially nameless and faceless to the outside world, but their result earned global acclaim, now known as "organic jewelry" or "Eco-chic jewelry," changing the face of women's fashion in Colombia and Europe, and finally making its grand arrival here in the United States, with the inception of "Colombian Girl Jewelry."

The Colombian Girl Jewelry collection is unique from other jewelry as it is made all-natural fruits and seeds, organically sourced, that are found in the Amazon Rainforest of Colombia.  But beyond the jewelry, there are women behind the scenes producing each piece by hand, one seed at a time.

These women are the heart of Colombian Girl Jewelry.  Most of the women are single mothers or young women that grew up without an opportunity for higher education.  They work together, united in their community, specializing their their special craft.  It is more than just a job for these women, it is an artform to ensemble a color palette made from locally collected fruits and seeds.  With the emergence of Colombian Girl Jewelry, these woman are taking their craft to a market outside their overcrowded streets of Bogota; they are introducing their artistry to the world.

Now these Colombian girls wish to introduce American women to a whole new jewelry experience.  At Colombian Girl Jewelry, you'll find jewelry created entirely from fruit and seeds found in the Amazon Rainforest of Colombia by a small group of women artisans, uniting women across geographic and cultural boundaries and enabling them to empower one another in an eco-friendly, sustainable manner.

Each one of the many necklaces, earrings, bracelets, that I have seen at Colombian Girl Jewelry are all little works of art.  They are all so beautiful!  They are made from a variety of fruits and nuts, some hand dyed, then artfully strung together.  A piece of jewelry can be made from orange peel, acai berries, bombona seeds, tagua nuts, dalmatian seeds, cantaloupe seeds, and, of course being in Colombia, coffee beans.

Carolina, who is the founder of Colombia Girl Jewelry, sent me this lovely Amora de Cafe Multicolor necklace and earrings set.  It is so lovely.  This set is comprised of aromatic coffee beans and multi colored dyed cantaloupe seeds all filling four separate entwined string neatly crocheted together.  The trings are linked together by a single tagua nut near the bottom of an adjustable necklace loop.  Even though I am not a coffee drinker, I do enjoy the sweet aroma of the beans that wafts up from this necklace.

The earrings are also made with multiple strands.  They are as light as a feather, and you cannot even tell you are wearing them until you look at the beauty of them in the mirror.

I would never have thought that a mix of coffee beans and dyed cantaloupe seeds could come together to form a beautiful necklace.  The Aroma de Cafe Multicolor Necklace and Earring set is now a treasured set for me.

There are just so many delightful items to choose from at Colombian Girl Jewelry - like the Bosque del Amazonas Choker.

How about the Pura Naranja "Pure Orange" (rainbow) made with multicolor orange rings all with the natural aroma of orange.
