Too Stressed To Sleep Well? Try Sleeping Under a Weighted Blanket from SensoryGoods.com - Giveaway ends 9/17 US

Being stressed out can really make sleeping tough, and the next day can really be ruined.  My son can get really stressed out, and when he's that way, well, let's just say he won't be a "happy camper" especially when he gets over stimulated  He has been getting more restful sleep recently, and he feels better during the day - so do we.  He has been sleeping under a weighted blanket from SensoryGoods.com.

This son of mine is slightly autistic and is quite normal until he still gets himself way too stressed out or over stimulated about something.  As his mother, I feel for him, and want him to be happy.  When I was asked by SensoryGoods.com to review one of their weighted blankets, I really did some research on them.  What I found was a little astounding, and how it could help my son.

Even though the evidence is a bit sketchy, people who are very stressed out and suffer from anxiety - ordinary people like you and me, or children with autism, sensory processing disorder, developmental disorders, and more, can actually sleep better and longer under a little extra weight on top of them.  Here's where the idea for a weighted blanket came into being.  Sleeping under a weighted blanket helps keep individuals calm and organized in a variety of stressful environments.

I received to review a large weighted blanket from SensoryGoods.com.  It fits a twin size bed perfectly and is just long enough to go from a person's shoulders to over their feet.  I got him one that weighs 20 lbs.  How did I know what weight to get him?  Sensory Goods says to get a blanket that is 10% of your body weight plus 1 pound, and that rounded me out to 20 lbs.  You cannot tell this weighted blanket is different from other blankets until you try to pick it up.

A large weighted blanket measures 43"x 72"

  • Available in 14lbs, 15lbs, 16lbs, 17lbs, 18lbs, 19lbs and 20lbs.
  • Washer/Dryer Safe
  • Weighted with Plastic Beads or Glass Beads (Highly Recommended)
  • Suggested weight is 10% of your body weight plus 1 pound.
  • The weight is distributed evenly in a quilted pattern within the blanket.
  • Over 1200 Pattern and/or Color combinations to choose from (shades & colors may vary).

Sensory Goods' weighted blankets help regulate a normal sleeping pattern as well as calm anxiety and stress. Not only are Sensory Goods' Weighted Blankets effective, but they are made with high quality materials and diligent care. Along with the highest level of craftsmanship - all are made by hand, Sensory Goods unique design keeps the Weighted Blankets modern, acceptable, and yet still therapeutic.

They offer two filling options, Plastic Beads or Glass Beads, and the beads weight is evenly distributed in a quilted material hidden within the blanket material of your choice where no one can see. They are washer and dryer safe. Also, Sensory Goods' Weighted Blankets are made to last, but they offer the most affordable Weighted Blankets, just in case you would ever want two or more.

There are so may color combinations to choose from!  You can get exactly the color you want as you can choose from over 1200 color combinations.  This makes Sensory Goods' Weighted Blankets fully customizable. Not only that, but you get to choose the weight and filling material. Also, if there is a color and/or pattern that you want Sensory Goods to use but you do not see, then just let them know, and they will do their best to fulfill your order exactly the way you want it.

The primary fabric of the blanket is a fleece material, and the complimentary color is a flannel.  You can get a different type of fabric if you wish - just ask.  All of Sensory Goods' Weighted Blankets are made by men and women who are committed to character, children, and community in Surprise, Arizona, USA.  Before you purchase a weighted blanket, please see the Weighted Blanket Warnings first.

My son has been sleeping more soundly at night, and wakes in a much better mood.  We do have to have it cooler in the house for him at night since the blanket is warm, but that is not a bother for the rest of us.  He is less stressed during the day and I find that he doesn't get as over stimulated as he used to (politics can really over stimulate him).  We are very thankful he is much better as all of us are less stressed as well.  It seems that a weighted blanket is really working out well for us!

  29. I like the Tootle Turtle Tent. It reminds me of the times I made a tent as a kid and a mom to help pass away the time inside in bad weather and outside in good weather. We also used to make an obstacle course and had to pass under chairs and hop over hula hoops and splash through wading pools. Good fun!
